Haldwani: The government has transferred 24 IAS officers on May 17, 2023. IAS Vandana Singh Chauhan has been given the responsibility as the District Magistrate of Nainital. Vandana Singh Chauhan has gained popularity on social media multiple times. Especially due to her success in the UPSC, many young people find inspiration from her. All India Rank 8 in UPSC

IAS Vandana Singh Chauhan hails from Nasrullahgarh, Haryana. She received her education in a girls’ Gurukul near Moradabad. After completing her intermediate studies, she pursued a degree in law. During this time, she also started preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services examination. Vandana Chauhan did not take any coaching for her preparations. She used to study for 12-14 hours every day. Vandana Singh Chauhan achieved success in her first attempt. At the age of 24, in the year 2012, she fulfilled her dream of becoming an IAS officer by securing the 8th rank in the All India examination. Vandana Singh Chauhan in Uttarakhand

IAS Vandana Singh Chauhan has also served as the Chief Development Officer of Pithoragarh. In 2017, she became the first female Sub-Divisional Magistrate of the district. Until 2020, she provided her services in Pithoragarh. During this time, she was also the brand ambassador for the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter) campaign. In 2020, she was initially appointed as the District Magistrate of Rudraprayag but was later transferred to the Personnel Department of the government. Then, on November 12, she was appointed as the Managing Director of KMVN. When she did not take the appointment, she was made the Additional Secretary of Rural Development. In 2021, she became the District Magistrate of Almora. Now, in 2023, she has become the 48th District Magistrate of Nainital.

Jim Corbett National Park

The Jim Corbett park is first national park of India established in the year 1936 it was named Hailey National Park. In 1957 ,the park was rechristened as the Corbett National Park in the memory of Late Jim Corbett great naturalist ,eminent conservationist. It is 118 Kms. from Nainital via Kaladhungi & Ramnagar.

The Corbett national park covering an area of 521 Sq. Kms. is situated at the foothills of the Himalayas . It spreads over parts of two districts , a major part of park with an area of 312.86 sq. Kms. falls in Pauri Garhwal district and the balance 208.14 sq. Kms. in Nainital district. The park occupies portions of Kalagarh and Ramnagar forest divisions .It falls within the trek of land known as Paltidun.

How To Reach Corbett
The nearest rail head is Ramnagar which is the terminus of Delhi-Moradabad-Ramnagar broad gauge branch of North East Railway.Ramnagar is connected by road to Delhi as well as Lucknow. Delhi is 240 Kms. away via Kashipur-Moradabad-Ghaziabad , while Lucknow is 432 Kms. via Kashipur-Rampur & Bareilly. Ramnagar is 60 Kms. from Nainital via Kaladhungi.The nearest airport is at Pantnagar about 80 Kms. from Ramnagar. Dhangarhi is the main entrance to the park is located on Ramnagar-Ranikhet road 19 Kms. from Ramnagar.Dhangarhi houses a museum of dead animals and is worth visiting. South western boundry of park touches Kalagarh which can also be approached from Moradabad.Dhikala 35 Kms. from Dhangarhi connected by forest road is the main tourist spot of the park.There is one more entrance from Amdanda six Kms. from Ramnagar in Phooltal area.

Approach from Ramnagar, Headquarter of project Tiger, where each visitor has to get prior permission for visiting park. Here besides a regular bus service to Dhikala, taxis are also available.

The park embraces the picturesque broad flat valley consisting of vast Savannah and surrounded by hills drained by small rivers .Savannah woodland ,bamboo brakes dry deciduous forests and Sissu-Khair forests provide as variety of vegetation and consequently habitats for different species of wild life. The Ramganga river Elephant Herd In Corbettmeandering its way through the park with some deep pools and foaming rapids forms the main water source. Good size patches of thick elephant grass growing along the river banks and moist localities provide ideal shelter to the tiger. The forests in the park mainly consists of Shisham, Sal & Pine.
 
The park is rich in wild life such as elephant ,tiger, panther, bear, dear, pig, jungle cats, porcupine, hyena, and jackal. Amongst the birds are the pea fowl, the jungle fowl ,grey and black partridge, pigeons, quails, kingfisher, kite, lark and the woodpecker. The Ramganga is full of mahaseer fishes. AmElephantongst the reptiles are python, crocodile and many species of lizards and snakes.

Tigers are fairly well distributed over the park and inhabit the large number of nalas, ravines and open glades The natural food of the tiger consists of Sambhar, Chital, Kakar, Para and wild boar is found in plenty all over the reserve. Sloth bears are confined mainly to hilly area .Several elephants live in the park, but they keep moving to the adjoining forests in search of food.

Haldwani and Kathgodam were two different townships in the past but now it has amalgamated in one unit. Kathgodam means a depot of wood. In the days gone by from Kumaon region timer was collected and stacked at this place and then transported away. Haldwani word was derived from Haldu tree (Haldina Codifolia) and Bani meaning a small forest. Up till recently Haldwani had huge amount of Haldu trees having yellow coloured wood. Meetre gauze railway line was built in 1892 by Rohilkhand and Kumaon Railways which was later taken over, by Oudh and Tirhut Railways. Recently all the railways were nationalized and it came under North Eastern Railways. The tracks have since been changed and are now having broad gauze line from May 1994.

Haldwani was established in 1834 by some English gentleman locally famous in those days as ‘Rail Sahib’ before that it was forest of Haldu trees. Most probably Rail Sahib was Mr. Trail himself. Whatsoever population one can dream of was somewhere near Kota Haldu according to some books. Kota Haldu is not traceable now; probably it it present Mota Haldu. First pucca masonry house was built in the year 1850 and first Ram Lila ground was acquired in 1984 by Sri Debi Dutt Joshi. Haldwani became notified area in 1904 and later on declared a municipal board.

Kathgodam was previously known as ‘Bamori Ghati’. It was named as Kathgodam on 24th April 1884 after it was made the terminal station of Rohilkhand and Kumaon Railways. This is one of the rail terminus for Kumaon hills situated in the foothill of the Himalayas the other being at Tanakpur. Direct and daily service in the foothill of the Himalayas and other being at Tanakpur. Direct and daily service is available to Howrah via Lucknow and Gorakhpur and Delhi via Rampur and Moradabad.

Check-in to hotel, refreshment and rest for couple of hours, after having snacks and tea walking on Mall Road, side of the Naini lake. After this soft walk, return to hotel, have dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day2: After breakfast, visit to Hanumangarhi temple, a famous religious place, later proceed to Corbett. On the way to you can visit to Corbett water fall, Corbett Museum. Dinner and overnight stay to Hotel.

हल्द्वानी उत्तराखंड राज्य के नैनीताल जिले में स्थित एक नगर है । यह उत्तराखंड के सर्वाधिक जनसँख्या वाले नगरों में से एक है । इसे कुमाऊँ का प्रवेश द्वार कहा जाता हैं । यह विमानों तथा ट्रेन के लिए आखिरी स्टेशन हैं । “हल्द्वानी” शब्द कुमाऊनी शब्द “हल्दू -वानी” जिसका अर्थ “हल्दू का जंगल” के नाम पे रखा गया ।

जीवनशैली
हल्द्वानी में प्रमुख रूप से कुमाऊनी लोगों की अधिकता है । अर्थात यहाँ अधिक संख्या में कुमाऊनी लोग निवास करते हैं । परन्तु इसके अतिरिक्त यहाँ बहुत से नगरों और क्षेत्रों के लोग भी निवास करते है । दो दशक पहले तक हल्द्वानी एक छोटा सा क़स्बा था । परन्तु पिछले कुछ वर्षो में बढ़ते नगरीकरण के चलते यह एक व्यापारिक क्षेत्र के रूप में उभरा है । और यहाँ कई आधारभूत सुविधाओं मे वृद्धि हुई हैं ।

खुर्पाताल नैनीताल से 12 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित टूरिस्ट डेस्टिनेशन है | यह झील 5500 ft (1635 mt) के altitude पर स्थित हैं। ब्रिटिश मैगज़ीन के अनुसार खुर्पाताल की खोज 1840 से 1850 के मध्य की मानी जाती हैं | खुर्पाताल झील का नाम खुर्पाताल इसलिए पड़ा क्योकि जब आप इसे ऊपर से देखोगे तो इसकी झील का नज़ारा खुर के समान दिखता है। इस ताल का पानी साफ़ तथा गर्म होता है तथा इसे गर्म पानी के ताल के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। सर्दियों के समय में भी इस झील का पानी हल्का गुनगुना होता हैं तथा इस ताल मैं फिशिंग भी होती है।

खुर्पाताल मे बोटिंग नहीं होती है। और न ही यहाँ टूरिस्ट एक्टिविटी होती हैं। खुर्पाताल झील अपना रंग बदलती रहती हैं।  इस झील का रंग कभी लाल तो कभी हरा तो कभी नीला दिखाई देता है। इस कारण इसे रहस्मयी झील भी कहा जाता है। खुर्पाताल झील से थोड़ी दूर ऊपर मनसा देवी मंदिर हैं। मान्यता हैं की इस मंदिर से खुर्पाताल झील मैं आप पत्थर फेकते हैं और अगर आपका पत्थर इस झील मैं पहुंच जाता हैं तो आपकी मनोकामना पूर्ण हो जाती है।
खुर्पाताल के पास कई गेस्ट हाउस, होटल, रिसोर्ट है, जहा आप रुक सकते हैं।

नौकुचियाताल भीमताल से 6 किलोमीटर तथा नैनीताल से इस ताल की दूरी २६.२ कि॰मी॰ है। नौकुचियाताल की खोज 1734-1800 के मध्य मानते हैं | नौकुचियाताल का अर्थ नौ कोने वाली झील से होता हैं | इस झील के नौ कोने हैं | पौराणिक कथाओ के अनुसार यदि कोई व्यक्ति इस झील के किसी भी कोने मे खड़ा होकर सभी कोनो की झलक देख ले तो वह मोक्ष की प्राप्ति हेतु धुए के एक बादल के रूप मे अदृश्य हो जाता हैं | मगर एक झील के कोने से सभी नौ कोने दिखे, ऐसी किसी जगह की जानकारी उपलब्ध नहीं  हैं |

नौकुचियाताल की झील काफी गहरी तथा लम्बी हैं | यहाँ आप नाव मे बैठकर बोटिंग का आनंद ले सकते हैं | और इसके साथ ही आप नौकुचियाताल मैं पैराग्लाइडिंग, ज़िपलाइन कोर्स्सिंग, रॉक क्लाइम्बिंग, ट्रैकिंग सहित अनेक गतिविधियों का आनंद ले सकते हैं |
